25-year-old Yann Lelievre of France beat some of the toughest poker players online to be crowned Titan Poker’s Online Poker World Champion, netting him a cool $100,000 in cash. The rest of the competition would receive a share of the $55,000 in proportion to their placing in the tournament.
To get to the finals of the event, members of Titan Poker first had to compete for three months in regional Poker Leagues, going up against players from their own country. The winners of these preliminary rounds would then advance to play against the best players from around the world for a shot at the World Challenge Main Event.
In a post-game interview, Yann had this to say about his impressive accomplishment: “Poker is a true passion for me. I started playing poker in 2006 and it was not long before I realized all the passion that poker can provoke. I was so delighted to win the World Challenge Main Event, especially as it was such a close call. I became Titan Poker World Champion with a three of a kind - but just before the pot I only had enough for the big blind! I intend to continue playing and fulfill some more of my dreams. I'm still very young and I have a lot to learn, but I believe that I am getting closer and improving all the time."
