According to a report in the Times newspaper of South Africa, the country is soon planning to legalize online gambling, permitting the players to operate in a safer environment.
The consequences of being caught playing online gambling is heavy as online gambling in South Africa is still illegal even tough if the service provider is operating in another nation. The players will have to pay heavy fines or can even face prison.
The player had to always play under fear and was neither protected and might be even arrested for engaging in an illegal activity, as the license to operate is still not issued.
However, the Select Committee of National Provinces did look in to the matter, and the bill relating to online gambling will be soon forwarded to the National Assembly for the final approval.
Themba Marasha, the Chief Operations Officer of the National Gambling Board, commented, that the active players usually played at their own risk but after the new law implementation, the players of the country will be able to play within a protective environment.
