In a press statement released earlier today, Everest Poker revealed that it has acquired exclusive table-advertisement rights in a huge multi-year contract with the WSOP. Owned and established by GigaMedia Ltd., Everest Poker is one of the better-known poker rooms on the web today, and has won e-Gaming Review’s Poker Operation of the Year award in 2007. As per the terms of the contract, Everest Poker will be the only poker-related table sponsor at the WSOP, with brand logos in readily visible positions on the felt at each table, as well as along the inner-rung of the championship table. Moreover, Everest Poker banners and logos will be on display prominently around the casino floor.
Any tie-up with the World Series of Poker, let alone the kind of exclusive deal Everest has managed, is a big deal for a company that makes its revenue from online poker. Each year, the WSOP attracts a growing field of more than 50,000 international players vying for a share of a prize-pool of over $150 million (inclusive of all ring and bracelet events). It is broadcast to roughly 350 million homes around the world, with a broadcasting duration totaling over 2700 hours.
The World Series of Poker 2008 will commence on May 30 in Las Vegas, and will comprise about 55 different events, featuring games like Omaha, Hi/Lo, Seven-Card Stud and of course, Texas Hold’Em.
