History of casino blackjack and other facts

The game of casino blackjack is for sure one of the most popular games with offline and online casino gamblers. Historical records show that it was first played in France in around the 1700s.

Interestingly, it was then termed “vingt-et-un” (twenty-one). The game has come a long way since then, and is very much in demand on Internet casino platforms.

Coming back to the name itself, it is derived from the “natural” hand winner of the early version of the blackjack. A player was an automatic winner and was paid a bonus if he was dealt a Jack and Ace of Spades in his initial two-card hand. On other hand, any Ace combined with any ten-value card (excepting after a Split) counts as a “natural” Blackjack in modern Blackjack.

Blackjack is preferred by gamblers largely owing to the fact that it’s a mix of chance with elements of skill and decision making. The hype and the publicity that the practice of card counting got also have boosted it. It’s a skill that lets players to turn the odds of the game in their favor. This they do by making betting decisions that depend on the values of the cards remaining in the deck.
